Deirdre O’Sullivan, PhD

Prior to founding Epidarus Therapeutics, Deirdre was a Senior Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. Her research focused on metastatic breast cancer, bladder cancer and melanoma and established the role of Hyaluronidase enzymes in the metastic progression of these cancers. Prior to that, she was a Senior Scientist at Cytel, a biotech start-up, where she led a project investigating the biology of MHC Class II antigen presentation and its role in autoimmunity. The therapeutic potential of this project led to a successful IPO for Cytel. She has received numerous grants and awards and is the author of scientific articles based on her research in cancer and immunology. As the Founder and Chief Scientist at Epidarus Therapeutics, she leverages her expertise in Cell and Molecular Biology and extensive knowledge of the biology of Hyaluronic Acid to develop novel therapies for skin, joint and bladder conditions. She received B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University College, Dublin, Ireland and a Post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Immunology at Scripps, La jolla.
